Blog Post 2: Senior Project Ideas

Clarissa and I have finalized our senior project idea, which is twofold. First, we want to bring together the Homestead community during this period of high stress by having stress-relieving activities, including yoga, painting sessions, stress ball making, as well as distributing positive goody bags around campus during finals week. Second, we want to create a video/picture collection of the Class of 2020's senior year by filming important school events and compiling it into a both video and a scrapbook at the end of the year. We have started collecting pictures and video clips since the first rally, and plan on collecting more throughout the year. We have come up with a year plan, divided by month, and this plan includes what we want to do that month, as well as fundraisers to help fund our project so we do not have to pay for all of it out of pocket. Blog Post 1: Introduction to Senior Project

My passions for this senior project lie around helping the community and making it a better place, especially when it comes to unhealthy competition and stress that surrounds us through the entire first semester of senior year. Some ideas that I have relate to mental health. I think it would be fun to have activities around peak stress times this semester, including stress ball making sessions around college application deadlines, having goody bags around finals week, as well as partnering with clubs to hold events, socials, and outings. I think that I definitely want to work on the issue of mental health, as everyone is stuck in this competitive environment of trying to one up each other, so they overload themselves and stress themselves out, forgetting to prioritize their health.
